What Makes Up Space?

Space is a small big word. Small in the sense that this word only has 5 letters. Big in the sense that there is a lot that makes up space. Looking up from the earth, we see stars, the sun, and the moon. However, there is a lot that happens in that huge vacuum that we call space. There is a lot other than just the sun the mon and the stars. And today, we will look at what really makes up space.

What is in Space?

Radiation that Human Eyes Cannot see

As we have already said, looking up at space, we see the sun, the moon, and the stars. However, other than that there is also radiation. This radiation is invisible to human eyes but is it emanating throughout the cosmos. Take for instance in our solar system. We have a solar wind. This is made up of plasma and other matters that come from the sun. This permeates past the plantstand causes the phenomena that we call the aurora near the Earth poles.

Black holes

A black hole is formed from the gravitational collapse of s gigantic star. This will then form a singularity that nothing pulls everything towards it. Such that nothing can escape from it, not even light. That is why it called a black hole. No one is really sure what is inside a black hole, or what would happen to anything or anyone that would go inside it. However, the research is still ongoing.

Stars, Planets, Asteroids, And Comets

Space is also made up of stars, planets, asteroids, and comets. Stars are huge balls of gas, like the sun that produce their own radiation. Stars can be red supergiant’s and they can also be white dwarfs. There is also what is known as a neutron star. A neutron star is what is formed after a star explodes.

Planets are celestial bodies that move in an elliptical orbit around a star. This is like how our planet rotates around the sun, which is a star. There are also what known as extrasolar planets, there are planets that are outside the solar system. Proto-planets are another form of a planet. However, they are not exact mature enough to be called a plane as the planets that we have in our solar system.

Asteroids are rocks that float in space. They are very small, and it has been concluded that they are remnants of the formation of a planet.

Comets are also own as dirty snowballs. It is believed that comets come from a vast collection of icy bodies that are called the Ort Cloud.

Galaxies and Quasars

Galaxies are huge, these are made up of a vast collection of stars. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way. There are various types of galaxies. That one that earth is part of is called the barred spiral shape. Other types include spiral to elliptical to irregular.

A quasar is the bright center of a galaxy. It is believed to be powered by a supermassive black hole.
