The social store front has been widening with more and more players joining the field, Zibaba is one such player that hopes that consumers buying habits will change in the near future to include venues such as Facebook.

Zibaba offers a Facebook application that allows users to open up real storefronts on their Facebook fan pages, and sell merchandise just like the big guys. Launched two years ago the company’s has specialized in custom social media applications for clients, and only recently (two weeks) launched their current service. The company is backed by seed capital, and profits from other ventures.
Zibaba’s solution includes Payment collection, and requires users to have a Paypal account. The service enables users to highly customize the look and function of their storefront. Here’s one example of a Zibaba powered storefront.

One of the customization features mentioned above is seen in the image below, where a strip of products displayed under the main item is organized by product popularity, that in turn is determined by the number of “likes” each product gains.
Zibaba’s service allows users to load products one by one into their storefront, or in bulk using Microsoft Excel sheets. Users can plugin in shipping fees for each product and even offer discounts for the page fans. The service is offered in three different packages that differ primarily in the volume of products and fans they allow. Package prices range from $20 -$50 per month, the twenty dollar package supports up to 10 products, and 10,000 fans, while the fifty has unlimited products and up to 1 million fans. The monthly fees are the only fees users will incur on Zibaba, according to CEO, Ronen Shlomo.

Storefront owners can promote any of their Facebook friends to an administrative position in the online storefront. After sales are made, payments are made to the storefront’s owner through their Paypal account.
The Zibaba site offers little further information at this point, but a demo and some more details are promised to be out very soon. Zibaba isn’t alone on this relatively new playing field, company’s such as Payvment, and BigCommerce also offer similar services, each with their own approach. It isn’t clear how quickly the public will adopt this new retailing venue. Alluring as Facebook’s 500+ Million users might be, its still a free-for-all right now in the race to determine which business model works best.
