Wibiya offers monetization for publishers
Wibiya, the Israeli provider of a popular toolbar, launches a neat scheme for monetization. This program enables publishers to make money out of affiliate links in a very streamlined way.
In a letter to users, Wibiya notified its users about the Express Affiliate Links web application. Joining the program is easy – this is another “web application”, like any other one that Wibiya already has: Facebook Like, site’s feed, Twitter, Who’s Online, the recently added Justin TV and lots more. Joining the program creates affiliate links out of existing outgoing links, without modifying the original site.
Affiliate merchants are dispatched via Kehalim, also an Israeli company, that specializes in automating of affiliate programs. Tradedoubler, Commission Junction, LinkShare, Google and Amazon are among the partners.
This new web app has lots of apparent advantages: very easy integration, no complicated settings to play with and no modification to the original site. As we’ve written in our Wibiya review, the toolbar still has some flaws, but all in all, its quite nice, and gains nice traction.
With the addition of the monetizing option, Wibiya may begin justifying the trust it got by investors in April (Wibiya raised $2 million), and may add more value to the publishers.
This monetizing option is very fresh, and still has to prove that its working for publishers – making them money without deterring users. I’ve personally installed this option on one of my sites, and I’ll make a follow up of the results here at The Wadi.
