Wibiya, that provides a rich website toolbar, raised $2 million from Primera Capital. The funds will go towards further development of its Wibar and towards creating new products.

Wibiya Raises from Primera

The early investments were quite modest – 500K, that came from Yossi Vardi, Oded Vardi and Jeff Pulvar. This new funding, 4 times the initial investments, will give a big boost to the company, that launched its product only a few months ago.

San Francisco based Primera Capital, which already invests in Chegg, Cramster and Infolinks, will appoint Oren Zeev to the board of directors.

A month ago, we reported that Wibiya integrated Twitter lists, Web Buzz and Justin TV to its toolbar application inventory. In the news about the funding, Wibiya mentioned that new developments are underway, and hinted about tools for developers and for publishers.

In the Wibiya review, I asked the question of monetization – apart from some Google AdSense banners inside the Who’s Online application, no other monetization options were visible.

Will Wibiya introduce some kind of advertising scheme for publishers? With the new funds, many monetization options can be explored.
