Tingiz Delivers Online Info About Offline Products Via Smartphone
The two dimensional code better known as QR code has been around for almost two decades but still hasn’t quite become all the rage with consumers. With the proliferation of smartphones, it seems that many are betting this technology is about to come of age. Very recent examples are the Department of Transportation’s introduction of these codes into the labels applied to new vehicles, and the U.S. Post Office’s announcement today that it will offer discounts to mailers using QR codes. Tingiz, a newly launched Israeli start-up has jumped into this bubbling cauldron a few weeks ago with a platform that enables anyone to provide online information and documentation about their offline product by placing a QR Code on it.

The idea behind the product is that manufacturers, big or small, will attach a decal with a Tingiz QR code to their products. Once scanned with a smartphone these codes will redirect consumers to online pages that offer product information, and similar content. The company site offers simulated examples such as these.

Tingiz codes are designed to redirect to mini-sites, hosted on Tingiz pages but operated by the manufacturer. The company is offering different templates that can display content in a variety of formats. The Tingiz offering targets businesses of all sizes and will apparently build its business model around traffic, a scan-through rate, if you will. Tingiz is actively searching for manufacturers to inlcude this new method of customer assistance. The site seems to be in alpha mode with early registrations but the code scanner is readily available for your Android on the market.
