Sotrfix Integrates Twitter Search

Sortfix, the Israeli startup that refines web search, now also supports searches in Twitter. A tab for the popular micro-blogging service is now available alongside Sortfix’s drag and drop boxes. Refining the results for real time updates is now available.

Sortfix Twitter

My initial search was for Israeli technologies. Sortfix uses various underlying search engines as a basis for refinement. The default is Google. Clicking on the Twitter tab refreshed the whole screen and wasn’t swift. An AJAX approach would fit a Twitter real time search much better.

The results look good: The power words offered by the Sortfix included the words “hitech”, the hash tag #startupnation and cleantech. In this example I’m searching for web technologies, so I dragged cleantech to the red box that excludes this word from the search. This refines the results by eliminating unnecessary information.

Seeing thewadi as one of the power words was a pleasant surprise. I dragged it into the green box for getting only mentions of thewadi. The suggested phrases in the Power Words are up to date.

For popular terms, the count of new tweets is updated constantly. The difference between a regular Twitter search and Sortfix is in the quantity of these updates – the user isn’t flooded with irrelevant results.
