MyHeritage Announces New Features for Premium Users
MyHeritage, a provider of an advanced genealogy platform, announces new features for its premium and premium plus users: a timeline that shows all the major events, with pictures, and a “timebook” that users can flip through and see the family information.
The timeline, seen in the image above is now available for the premium users. MyHeritage already compiled the data that the users entered and built the timeline for them. So, this feature doesn’t require intense configuration. In addition to photos seen in the timeline, also videos can be embedded.
Users browsing the timeline can take their time to see the dance of the bride and the groom before seeing childhood photos. A startup named AllofMe developed this feature for MyHeritage.
A second feature is Timebook. Similar to online magazines – users can select one family member and browse through the important stations in his life, together with close relatives. Also here, no configuration is necessary.
With these new features, MyHeritage wants to attract more users to its premium services. In our analysis of Wix’s fund raising, we’ve wondered if this business model – the freemium model, is the way to go. Although MyHeritage has serious competition, especially from Geni, Gilad Yefet and his team seem to be on the right path.
