Mo’Minis – Mobile Games For All Phones

Mo’Minis enables developers to create, convert and most importantly market mobile games to all the mobile phones, without having any programming skills. Well, almost all phones. Here’s a preview of this promising startup.

The Product

The company developed a full system for converting any game that was developed using its platform to any phone. This gives it an edge in the heavily fragmented mobile application industry. Also Perfecto Mobile deals with the issue of fragmentation. But their product doesn’t end there.

In order to provide a more comprehensive solution, Mo’Minis also approached the marketing side of mobile application. Utilizing a series of distribution agreements, Mo’Minis offers developers a great marketing channel.

The company says it can enter any network and any phone, apart from the iPhone. In an interview to Calcalist (Hebrew link), Itzik Frid, Mo’Minis’ CEO, complains about Apple’s limitations for developers and says there’s little to do there.

But the mobile game market isn’t only about the iPhone. There are lots of other devices, operating systems and even future operating systems that Mo’Minis supports.

Business Model

Mo’Minis is a channel between the developer and the distributor, leaving only the maintenance for the company. The developer receives 40% from every sale for his development effort, and the distributor shares the rest of the revenue with Mo’Minis for this marketing effort.

This leaves the company only with maintenance efforts, significantly reducing the operational costs, after the main development tool has already been developed.

Mo’Minis has recently signed a large distribution agreement for the Russian market and now aim for the Asia as well as Western Europe.

Background

Mo’Minis was founded a few years ago by Tzach Hadar, Eyal Rabinovich and Tsvi Rabinovich. The identical family names aren’t accidental – they’re identical twins.

Despite the young age of the founders, which are in their mid-twenties, the company already secured at least $2 million, with the last round being a year ago. The young founders have an older CEO since January – Itzik Frid, that came from InfoGen, among other stops in his career.
