Kontera’s Rich Ads: Fun or Annoying?

Share

Kontera, a provider of interactive context-based advertisements, released new ad products for its advertisers. Their Freedom Ads can morph the product’s actual look, and has rich interactive features.

Freedom Ads Kontera

Kontera’s ads appear on publishers’ sites within the Kontera network. Advertisements pop up according to the context, but different from traditional ads, they are richer in shape and user experience.

A good example is Samsung’s phone ad. The ad takes the shape of the phone. It seems that the phone is laid out on the site. The rich user experience is felt when the phone shows highlights from the Winter Olympics that the phone streamed in real time.

In the blog post announcing these ads, Kontera has pride in a wide array of advertisers that feel happy with the product and state that they plan on using it in future campaigns.

In the constant struggle for the consumers’ attention, this could win over advertisers. How will users engage with it? Will they find it playful and interactive? Or will they perceive this advertising form as too intrusive and resent it? Time will tell.
