Conduit Introduces: Play in the Toolbar Widgets

Conduit, that provides custom browser toolbars, has announced a new feature inside the tool bar – games. Geeks and non-geeks – everybody enjoys a small entertainment snack – playing an online game. Their solution connects between game developers, providers of toolbars and the users – that have the mini-games accessible no matter what site they’re visiting.

Before launching the mini-games, Conduit checked its own data and found that games are popular applications in their Marketplace. Most casual gamers receive an email with a link to a game, play with it for some time, and then close the browser tab before they get addicted.

Conduit makes the games more accessible – they are in the chrome of the browser. You can visit any website, and pause for some fun. This constant presence makes games a great addition for publishers that enjoy captive audience for their brand.

This is how it looks:

With over 100 million users in the Conduit network, new games can be tested and improved quickly. So if you weren’t intrigued by any of these games, there will probably be new ones soon.

As with Kontera’s Freedom Ads, the question here is whether this feature isn’t too intrusive. Some users will try it out, get bored or fear to become addicted and waste too much time. This may trigger an unwanted reaction of associating the brand with something intrusive or hiding the toolbar.

As aforementioned, the interaction with any feature or any game can be seen almost instantly, so the question will be answered in a rather short while.
