Answers.com Launches Tweet for Answer Feature
Answers.com, supplier of Q&A answer engine, introduced its new alpha Twitter feature, code-named “Hoopoe”, at the #140 Character Conference in New York City.
Answers.com’s Hoopoe delivers instant answers to users who tweet their questions to @AnswersDotCom or include the hashtag #AnswersDotCom. Answers.com will search for a good match and offer a reply with a snippet and link to the full answer, if available. See it in action:
Some more example tweets include:
- @AnswersDotCom What is Jim Carrey’s Twitter username?
- What caused the Eyjafjallokull volcano in Iceland to erupt? #AnswersDotCom
- @AnswersDotCom Who is Ashton Kutcher
However, if @AnswersDotCom doesn’t have the answer, the Twitter account offers the user to go to Answers.com and ask the new question there.
We found the new Tweet for Answer feature quite smart. By joining in the conversation. Answers.com can be a valuable service for people seeking quick answers for burning questions without the need to leave Twitter. Bob Rosenschein, Answers.com CEO, sees this as a new direction for Answers.com and we tend to agree and see the last one as more than a feature.
Lately Answers.com partnered with Tweetup, Bill Gross’ new Twitter search engine, to place a Tweetup search box at the bottom of WikiAnswers pages.
